The primary objective of the Trust is to focus on initiatives that help children reach their full potential and flourish.

The Trust works to provide access to education beyond the basics available to the children at the estates. What particularly stands out is the focus on children that show marked improvement in their academics. Luxmi rewards the efforts of these children - not just those who are already at the top of their class but those that have bettered their grades.

Outside the estates, the Trust has extended its support to various organisations, most importantly the Ramakrishna Mission, to provide accessible education in remote areas. Schools in Karimganj, Purulia, Narendrapur and Rahara were built or extended with Luxmi’s support.

At Nimpith, the last school before the Sunderbans, the Mission has been providing excellent educational facilities for students, especially for girls. The Trust helped set up the girls’ wing at the school with boarding on premises. The aim was to retain students that would otherwise drop out due to the poor transport infrastructure available around the marshland.
